I stayed in Villa Mamu for almost 5 months during my volunteering experience in Kampala and I had a great time.Maren and Rogers are the best hosts, they know everything about the city and have a lot of suggestions for visiting other beautiful places in Uganda.I had my own comfortable and beautiful room but there are also a lot of common spaces to share time with other guests and the rest of the family.I loved the terrace from where you can enjoy amazing sunsets and chats with the people in the house. In the neighborhood you can find everything you need, there is the market and various shops, and you are very close to the city center.I recommend Villa Mamu to enjoy your best time in Kampala. Miss it so much 🌍

Villa Mamu is an amazing place to stay and I can only recommend it. I lived there 4 months and it felt like a small oasis of calm in the middle of busy Kampala. The whole accommodation is very colorful and full of plants with a lovely family- like atmosphere. It is a really nice place to live and you will quickly feel like at home.Location is great, close to everything you need for daily life, but also close to city center and tourist attractions. The area is safe; the rooms are spacious and comfortable, designed in a very unique DIY way. Kitchen is well equipped and showers are with a hot water. You can also enjoy unforgettable sunsets on the amazing rooftop terrace or just chill in the garden.Maren and Rogers, are very welcoming and friendly. They know all local and touristic places and they are happy to help you in any situation. They can recommend you where to shop, where to go to hospital, which places are worth visiting... They have a car so they can help you with airport pick/ drop out or to drive you somewhere, if you need. We had BBQs, celebrated birthdays together, or just talked... I really felt like home.Thank you for your friendship and beautiful memories. See you again!

I stayed 9 months in Villa Mamu with the awesome Maren and Rogers and other people living in the house at the time. I had a beautifully decorated bedroom with wonderful private bathroom. The facilities are super comfortable and you can find a home family spirit at the house. The inside and outdoor area is sooo cool and decorated with taste! The house hosts a mix of locals and foreigners living together. Which is the best in terms of making friends quickly, convenient as it helps you to get to know Kampala and its ways and also makes you live the culture.I loved the area. Super easy to go around Kampala from there. People know Mengo. Not many foreigners in the neighborhood which makes your stay all the more authentic. 15min moto drive to central places and places to go out at night too.The owners are amazing, friendly, always there to help and have fun. The house atmosphere is unlike anywhere else.I most definitely recommend this place to anyone for a short or long stay. I would go back there anytime I come back to Kampala.Miss it already and love you guys ❤️🔥

Villa Mamu has been my home for 4 months. If I will go back to Kampala, I would again choose to live there. It is not simply a home but a place full of love, where you can feel part of a family. The rooms are large and well stocked, perfect if you want to have your privacy but without living completely alone. The bathrooms also are well stocked and with hot water! The kitchen is well organized, everyone has their own space and there is also an oven. There is also an air kettle and a drinking water dispenser. The living room is wide with a large table and many sofas. But the best spots are definitely the garden and terrace, where you can have BBQ, relax, sunbathe, and watch the sunset.Although Mengo is a very dynamic area, when you enter Villa Mamu it almost feels like you are outside Kampala. Near Villa Mamu you can find everything you might need: small stores selling fruits, vegetables, bread, eggs, sugar, tobacco, phone recharge. A few meters away is Mengo Hospital and also the Nakulabyie intersection where there are large and well-stocked supermarkets, banks, stores for drinks, restaurants, the market. Every morning from Villa Mamu I went to my office near Acacia Mall. By boda boda it takes only 10 to 15 minutes. In the evening, I went out with Uber or Boda boda, even coming back late at night I had no problems because the house is guarded by two dogs. The owners, Rogers and Maren, know anything you might need: hairdressers, manicure, pedicures, restaurants, tailors, clubs, safari guides. They have a car and are always available to help and advise you.Thank you for these months, for never making me feel alone, for the support and love I received every day. I hope to see you again soon.

I stayed a month and a half here and it was truly wonderful. The place is a little heaven very central in Kampala. Maren and Rogers are the sweetest hosts. They welcome you in a way that reminds you more of familiar relations than landlord - tennant. They know a lot about Ugandan culture, how and where to travel in Uganda and can set you up with local contacts. We rode with Marens sweet friend in his van across country, I had a jumpsuit made through a tailor Maren knew and Rogers took us on a city tour through the neighbourhood one of the first days after I moved in. There were movie nights, birthday celebrations, friend visits and awesome cooking. Beautiful decorations, a cozy hammock, spacious rooms with (shoutout to Maren´s interior designing skills) beautiful interiors. I warmly recommend Villa Mamu to anyone staying for a longer period in Kampala. I can´t wait to visit next time I´m in Uganda.

I spent a month with Maren and Rogers at Villa Mamu and had a great time. The day you arrive you will immediately have at least 5 friends in Kampala, a spacious room and a lovely rooftop terrace to enjoy the sunsets. Maren and Rogers know Kampala very well and are always happy to help or take you somewhere new, as well as give you a taste of the amazing stuff they cook up. Location is great - close to the city centre but in an authentic neighbourhood of Kampala, close to a market and supermarkets. I would recommend to anyone!

I stayed 3 months with Maren and Rogers at Villa Mamu and it was an awesome time! It really felt like a home base to me and Rogers and Maren were super friendly and helped me with everything. They tought me a lot about Ugandan culture and useful tips for my travels in Uganda. The rooms are very nice and through the lovely decoration and design the whole area has a wonderful atmosphere. In the kitchen we prepared great food and I remember delicious BBQ and Pulled pork with the smoker. Sometimes there were movie evenings or Birthday celebrations. I am really thankful for my time here. I already miss the time back then and all the cool people I got to know at this place and look forward to visiting again when I come to Uganda next time.

A place to feel safe and comfy! I know Maren, the host, from two previous trips to Uganda and would not hesitate for a second to stay with her. She is a real problem-solver and can probably organize anything you'd need - from a trutworthy Boda Boda driver to a whole two week safari trip.
